Ali Tabibian
Managing Director
San Francisco

Clients appreciate day-to-day access to Ali’s 18 years of investment banking experience, including senior positions in both New York and San Francisco with Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch.
Ali’s tenure in New York focused on providing investment banking solutions to large capitalization companies in a diverse range of industries including defense/aerospace (Boeing's $15BN acquisition of McDonnell Douglas), technology (IBM's $3.5BN unsolicited acquisition of Lotus) and consumer products (Mattel’s hostile offer for Hasbro). Ali worked with clients in the formation of value-maximization strategies such as improving growth and product portfolios via acquisitions (Malaysia Pacific Berhad’s acquisition of a division of National Semiconductor), increasing management focus through divestiture programs (the sale of Raytheon’s GaAs semiconductor business to TriQuint) and balance sheet solutions such as recapitalizations and leveraged transactions (Alden Press’ acquisition by KKR).
Ali moved to the Bay Area in 1997 and became increasingly focused on growth-stage public and private companies in the technology, consumer media and consumer retail spaces, often at the intersection of these industries: Infoseek's $2BN sale to Disney (an extremely complex two-step transaction involving multiple entities and newly issued tracking stock) and Jamba AG's $275MM sale to Verisign. Ali’s sell-side experience (ReplayTV, Chromatic Research, USCS, Borland’s CodeGear division, …) is complemented by extensive cross-border experience including Finisar's $50MM acquisition of Infineon's fiber optics subsidiary and Zeiss’ $800MM attempted acquisition of FEI Company.
Ali earned bachelors and masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and was a member of the University's 1987 national champion programming team. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and the IEEE. Ali lives in San Francisco with his wife and three children.
